Today on took the loveliest drive up through the Yorkshire Dales. You will have to forgive me for not posting some photos but I really need to sit down and add some together into a big landscape photo to do it justice.
However, I shall try to do it some justice by describing the beautiful dry stone walls that etch out the small fields of the loveliest greens, yellows and browns (depending on whether they are grass, hay or newly turned fields). The tiny little roadways are bounded by these grey stone walls leaving little room to stop for photos or pass other traffic. But the views are there, not obstructed by any high hedges and they go on and on. It definitely is one of the remoter parts of England and would have been worth stopping up in one of the local pubs for a week and traipsing the local rights of way footpaths through the countryside.
It was the perfect way to end my stay in Yorkshire. Many thanks to Liza and Dick who looked after me for this week and showed me much of their lovely country.
