Im a bit behind at the moment! We left Singapore a week ago, its hard sometimes, you have to be in the mood to blog.
We spent a lovely 5 days in Singapore. Some friends of Jess's parents, David and Joan who are living in Singapore kindly invited us to stay with them. David is currently working in Singapore and they have a very nice apartment about 8 train stops out of the city. It was fantastic to be back in the real world and have air con, hot water and crisp clean sheets!
We mainly spent our time in Singapore doing the tourist thing. We strolled down Orchid Road and checked out all the shopping centres. Visited Chinatown and had dinner at the hawker centre. Went to Raffles, but didnt pay S$23.00 for a Singapore Sling!! but we had a beer and lots of peanuts in the 'Long Bar'. We strolled around the river, Boat Quay and Clarke Quay, checked out the Merlion and we caught the cable car over to Sentosa.
We had some lovely dinners and hopefully i put an end to my mash potato craving for the time being! We went to a beautiful place for dinner that i would recommend to anyone going to Singapore called Chimes, which was at the back of a church where they had converted the nunnery into several restraunts and shops (see pics)
We enjoyed our time in Singapore, but it would be nice to go back another day when we arent on so much of a budget so we can do all the Singapore things like have High Tea at Raffles and several Singapore Slings! And go out for dinner at all the beautiful restraunts everynight :)
