Baker City is about 50 miles south of La Grande. The Oregon Trail Interpretive Center is located a few miles east of town. We spent a couple of days re-aquainting ourselves with this area and visiting our piece of TILE embeded in the floor of the OTIC.

We took a circle route tour to Sumpter and Granite. Ann tried her luck panning gold on a creek on the way back to Baker City.
