The wet scenery

More wet scenery

The little astra which kept us dry in this miserable weather

Saturday we headed off for the Speyside region with every intention of covering the distilleries. However, with weather and the Scottish reluctance to have decent opening hours meant that we didn't get to one. It rained all day and although it was a beautiful drive up through the Cairngorns, by the time we arrived just on 3:30pm, the distilleries were all closing. What's with the 4pm closing in summer when it stays light til 10pm? I don't get it! To be honest, we made it in enough time to go see the Glenfiddich distillery but I refuse to go there. We tried our luck at the Balvenie but it is not open to the public. I guess one must attend the Glenfiddich one to access the Balvenie full range seeing they own them.

Anyway, we headed on and tried a few others past Duff Town and on the way to Granton-on-Spey but no luck. So instead it was a day of driving in the rain, admiring the scenery and catching up with Rach who I haven't seen since she moved over here at Easter time.
