Our view in the morning

If you jump in a car from either Arenal or San Jose & head towards the Poas Volcano (no buses can go here), swing a right at Agua Saltenas, the road climbs & climbs once more back into the clouds. It's not a wide road nor a safe one, we saw a nasty crash on the way up, but eventually you break out at the top & enter a very magical place.

La Paz Waterfall Gardens.

This is the creme de la creme of luxary, but please don't tell anyone. Why? because this place is unique! Perched high up in the cloud forest is a private reserve with a good balance of ecology & luxary.

We have just been on a night-time frog tour to see frogs in their natural hibitat & to understand just how much global warming is truly damaging their fragile existence. This evening is the first time we have ever been able to see the planet Venus with the naked eye, so clearly & without light pollution. It is deeply moving...

NEXT DAY...

Today we were up earlyish to tour the grounds of Peace Lodge. First we headed of for the Waterfalls Walk, which encompasses several different height waterfalls each embedded deep in the rain forest. They were all amazing to see, take a look at the pictures... & as in true nature of this part of the trip, we got wet AGAIN!!!

Then after a spot of lunch, we looked around the Serpentarium, Aviary, Butterfly House, a traditional Tico house & then tried our hand at Trout fishing...

To finish the second evening off we had yet another fine meal, however, this one was courtesy of Hayley & Dean as a lovely birthday present to us both. Yummmy... It was lush!!

If at this point, anyone else fancies posting donations out to us, as belated birthday presents, or if you just are feeling generous...go right ahead...we won't complain.
