The Petryk's Round-The-World Adventure 2007/2008 travel blog

This morning was departure day from the UK to Europe......we decided on taking a taxi to the Waterloo Train Station as the walk to Victoria Station to get the bus to Waterloo would have been too long and exhausting as we discovered yesterday when we arrived back in London and found our way to our hotel. After checking in at the station, we had a short wait and then boarded the Eurostar which took us under the English Channel thru the Chunnel to Brussels, Belgium. The entire journey took about 2 1/2 hours which was certainly a lot better than about six hours on the ferry......the part of the trip thru the Chunnel only took about 20 minutes and you barely noticed when you entered the tunnel and when you came out. Upon our arrival in Brussels we used the tourist info centre to find a convenient place to stay near the city centre on the "Grand Sablon", an upscale area of Brussels. After checking in we went for a short walk in the area and found some Belgian Chocolate at Neuhaus Choclatier (and boy was it good), which has been making fine chocolate since 1857. There are chocolate shops upon chocolate shops here and you can't help but go in and sample the goods....well, off to bed as tomorrow's another day of seeing what Brussels has to offer...
