We left Arromanches this morning. Our hotel owner and his son came outside to wave us off. It was very sweet. We hit the ground (and Metro) running the second we pulled into Gare St. Lazare. Bags stowed at the hotel on the right bank (of course!) and off we went.
First was the Arc de Triumph. We climbed all 238 steps to the top and had a commanding view of all of Paris. Having had our early afternoon exercise we found a café well off the main drag and enjoyed a small lunch. We then strolled down the Champs Eleysee for a little window shopping. Jeff stopped at the Disney store to look for a copy of "Song of the South". Sad to say it is banned (by Disney) in France also.
Then we Metro'd to the Eiffel Tower and strolled down the left bank of the Seine before jumping back on the Metro to Notre Dame. We walked inside just as it started to rain. Mass was being held. It was very solemn and very beautiful. As we walked out of the Cathedral the skies were clearing so we took the Metro to Pigalle and walked up the steps to Sacre-Coeur for a fantastic dinner celebrating the end of our trip.
Chuck and Penny launch early tomorrow for LAX via JFK. Jeff and Jennifer depart later for PHL to spend the night at the commodious Days Inn, then home Sunday. We will do one final update upon our arrival in PHL. Good night from the City of Light.
