Lots of bus trips, but the reward was just Heavenly - Heavenly Lake to be exact. 2 hours north of Urumqi, high in the Tian Shan Mountains is Heavenly Lake. We spent 2 nights here sleeping in a yurt - a tradional tent-like structure of the nomadic people. No showers, but the Canadian tradition of the Polar dip was maintained when Eric and I went swimming in the lake. It was freezing, it took me two days to warm up. The yurt is very warm at night, heated by a simple wood stove. But even with the cozy yurt, and my long underwear I was still freezing. The previous night in the yurt I had slept in a tank top and shorts.
