|Woke up to find our cottage freezing. No wonder it was so cheap. We left Robe after a lardy breakfast and continued the drive. The road was still quite dull, the scenic bit isn't till nearer Melbourne. We stopped for lunch at Port Fairy, because it was funny, then eventually got near the pretty part.
There is initially some spectacular coastal road (we have some dull photos) then the road winds way up high and you realise that whatever average speed you had planned to keep up can be forgotten. There are actually probably more stunning views when you're high up in the hills but each to their own.
Carried on driving through the comically windy road until we got to Lorne, a pretty little surfer town. Stayed there over night, getting up early for the last bit of the drive. It would have been nice to spend longer there but there is bound to be more to Melbourne than Lorne.
Manage to get right into Melbourne, find our hotel, checkin and return the hire car. We drove about 1300km in 4 days. Not bad.
