Taupo Bungy - looked too scary so I went Skydiving instead!

Heading over to Mount Doom

End of Trek - Upper Tama and Mt Mgaurohoe

Travelling the short distance from touristy Rotorua, via various weird and wonderful goethermal places in between, I reached the lake-side town of Taupo. Only in the morning did I decide to have a go at tandem skydiving (it is the cheapest in the world and the weather was perfect so how could I not?). We were all crammed into a small propeller plane, climbed to 12,000ft, had a silly photo of us just before we jumped out of the plane (with the professional strapped securely in behind us). Really good fun.

The second day at Lake Taupo was spent trekking around the Tuariro mountain ranges (towards what was used as Mount Doom in Lord of the Rings). A very nice walk, though our very German bus driver did not let us go where all the other bus companies went, which was the proper crossing - a day hike on a snowy pass. The German also drove a clapped out Chinese imported bus and incorporated a newspaper delivery service as he took us up. Very annoying, but still a nice day.

A full report to be written when I have more time!
