Coronet ski resort outside of Queenstown

Old rusty suspension bridge before the goldmine town

Michael riding through Hell's gate - very cool terrain!

More shots of the road

It was a cold night and we decided to set off for an off-road trip to Skipper's Canyon. Typically gravel and good gravel at that!!!! The ride up to the turn off was great as we went to a local ski area for some photos for Mark and Eric. Need a summer job Eric? I am told Mark you are not allowed, says Leanne. The road was quite narrow and cut steeply into the rock face. The only other vehicles we've seen along the way were Lord of the Rings safari 4wd's. The Queenstown area hosts many of the film location from THAT movie. We followed along the Shotover river for most of its distance ending up at another old mining town called, you guessed it Skipper's. It has been historically preserved and quite a good story about its inhabitants, crazy gold miners and their cricket team!!!! Tomorrow we plan to go to Glenorchy for a hike in which we need permission from a local farmer to cross his land. We will come close to summitting Mt. Alfrid, stay tuned.
