A wet Janet infront of Faz glacier

Mountains in the rain

Knights point and our first bit of sunshine in two days

Hawea lake coming into Wanaka

It is warm and dry here in Wanaka and we have big smiles on our faces!! We experienced at least one meter of the seven in rain that they get near the glaciers. It started on our trip back from Franz Josef glacier and lasted until the next day when we rode out of the mountains to the coast again. That was a total of 20 hours of solid rain. The Eskimo's have 50 words to describe snow and I now have 50 to describe rain, mostly staring with 'f'... But now we are dry!! Have some great photos of the passes we went through on the way and also the beautiful lakes we drove around. Very breakthtaking at every corner. It reminds us of Canada here- around the Okanagan valley, but with sharper hills and mountains. We plan to stay here another day which is a treat (no packing of the tent in the morning). We will be driving to the base of Mt. Apsiring later today and do a small walk towards the base.
