The VanRooyen Family's Big Adventure

Lisa travel blog
Have you ever thought that there has to be more to life than this? Like many others we are working so hard and dealing with the stresses of life for "our house". We had a dream of what our family life would be like and this wasn’t it. Every time we went on a family vacation in our RV we never wanted to come home. We would lie around at night and talk about the “what if’s”. We even started planning our Family’s Big Adventure and then returned to the drudgeries of life the next day. I can’t say what exactly was the breaking point but we were ready for a change-a real change.
What were we waiting for? We decided to deal with the fear of the unknown and set a date and never looked back. Our life as we knew it was about to change, not just for us but our kids.
Everything we own is in storage, our house is under contract and we will be spending the next few years traveling across the United States and Canada with our two kids (ages 6 and 9). I will be homeschooling for the first time and my husband will be doing his work in our cargo trailer which is set-up as an office and extra storage.
I’m sure there will be a lot of ups and downs. Even though we have been traveling for 10 years in a RV the longest we have been on the road is 30 days. What will it like to live in such small quarters?
Our journal is not only for our family and friends to keep track of us but for our children, a record of all our experiences.
Welcome to my trip journal! If you have any questions about places we have experienced please send us an email.
