“The mountains are calling, and I must go”: John Muir.
Seems to be a fitting quote doesn’t it, for the lure of the sun and general exploration are calling again. Many are drawn to pristine golf courses, the best beer or latte, a great ski slope and maybe even Tuscany wine country, but while all of the above are certainly worthy of pursuit, I lean a bit towards exploration of the US via road trips, seeking various experiences and adventures in the natural world and simply satisfying a general curiosity of what lurks around the next bend, while enjoying a little sunshine at the same time. The general plan for this road trip, if there is such a thing, is first enjoying some family time in the Phoenix area during December, interspersed with little snippets of exploration and adventures in the vicinity. January will find me heading to……well, I don’t really know yet…..places unknown and experiences not yet encountered, with no real specific destinations, no established route and no time table, but will be targeting the southern portions of Arizona and New Mexico for starters.
In lieu of Facebook, this “blog” serves as a window for those who may (or may not) want to see where I’m at or simply to tag along and view different areas of the country through my cameras’ lens. Entries will be sporadic, and just to clarify, I don’t send out notices of new entries, which will hopefully be a weekly affair. So you’re on your own as far as checking the site.
Beyond the general mundane stuff, of which you will sadly be exposed, perhaps you who view this site will find some small portion of the narrative and pictures interesting, mildly entertaining, educational to some degree, and perhaps even a bit inspirational in seeking your own explorations and new experiences, discovering there IS something out there……calling, and you must go.
