Woke up to 70 degrees and beautiful skies this morning which was what we were hoping for. That always makes for a great parade/car show day! We'd left our truck downtown last night to insure a good viewing position again this year. Dick & Lou picked us up promptly at 9am & we headed down to the local bakery for a cup of coffee & a donut. John joined us as well & we were seated in the new marketplace square when cousins Wayne & Judy arrived. After everyone finished their 'breakfast' we made our way across the street & got the chairs in position.
It was really nice having family with us this year. And John too, as this was his first Gold Discovery Day's weekend too. After nine years of summers in Custer we feel like part of the 'local' family & we enjoy sharing all this area has to offer, almost like proud parents :)
The parade seemed to have more entrants this year, the crowd was great, the kids were all having a ball retrieving 'thrown' candy & things moved along nicely. What more could you ask for, lol? After the parade we attended the Sloppy Joe lunch at the Senior Center, a worthy cause & something we like to support. That gave us a little break before spending the next 1 1/2 hours at the car show which was actually only one block away. Had a great time & there were several new entries this year. But, I'll get into that later. I'm just going to share a few of the parade highlights in the post. So check back again soon, especially if you like 'hotrods'!
