Entering Art Alley...

On my left...

Larry, reading the fine print on this dumpster!

Even the steps??? Pretty roses :)

Note the Alex Johnson Hotel in the next block....And Homer of course...

Now that is a large peace sign!

All I can say is 'wow', different!

After leaving the car show Sunday we decided to stroll down Art Alley, a graffiti-filled passage between Main & St. Joseph, between 6th & 7th St. This alley is an interesting venue for artists and graffiti artists to paint on walls, doors and alley items like trash cans, fire escapes, gas and electric meters. While some of the art is great, some is just okay, some are merely tags, some are just scribbles and some can barely be called art at all. There seems to be a bit for all tastes & over the years it's changed quite a bit. Some folks would like to see it all covered up & redone with everything being more 'monitored' & 'approved'.

If you happen to be in Rapid City it's worth a few minutes of your time. I wouldn't drive hundreds of miles just to see it! There are many businesses & restaurants nearby so you could incorporate it into an all day visit & have a great time! If you'd like to see more pics just click on the link. Folks have been taking & posting pics from this interesting alley for many years! Enjoy :)
