We've spent the past two days enjoying the 'Old Time Country Fourth' Event right here in Custer. Held July 3-5th each & every year the town does a fantastic job of bringing both visitors & locals together to enjoy a parade, games, music, carnival, live music and fireworks. And of course the many wares available by vendors offering unique, handmade items.

Cousins Wayne & Judy arrived at 9am & we carpooled into town together. We'd actually left the truck parked overnight in the spot we wanted to view the parade from this morning. Otherwise, parking can get tough. The weather co-operated beautifully, a nice 80 degrees or so with a light breeze & the sun ducking in & out of the clouds providing occasional shade. After the parade ended we strolled down Main street making out way to Way Park to check out the vendors and carnival games being provided for the kids. We encountered many friends along the way so it took us a while to get there, lol!

Every year we purchase Buffalo Valley Soap & look forward to stocking up. It cleans wonderfully & smells awesome, no matter which 'flavor' we choose. We enjoyed tacos downtown & then settled in for a couple of hours of entertainment provided by several local artists, culminating in a short magic show designed especially for the kids. Too fun!

We arrived home around 4pm, took a short break to visit with our buddy Frank & then BBq'd before heading out for the evening. I picked up several packages of bacon wrapped turkey filets while in Ely & oh my, are they ever delicious! Dick & Lou joined us for an enjoyable meal out on our picnic table & after cleaning up we headed to our friends Jim & Colleens where a bunch of folks were gathering to enjoy watching the fireworks this evening. But, I've rambled on long enough for now so I'll cover that in tomorrows blog.

Larry & I hope you are enjoying this Independence Day weekend with your family and/or friends as well & stay safe out there! The roads are crowded & some folks are partying heartily! Be safe :)
