|It was an easy drive today from Rawlins to Casper, Wyoming today. We traveled US Hwy 287 which has fairly light traffic & pretty scenery. We'd thought about dry camping but ultimately decided to stay at the Fort Caspar Campground, a Passport America park with full hookups. It was about 85 degrees and we were going to meet family for an early dinner and then do a bit of final shopping before reaching Custer on Saturday so we wanted air conditioning for Onyx.
Got set up easily and headed out for dinner, arriving at the Guadalajara restaurant before cousins Lisa & Charie. A couple of minutes later Aunt De & Uncle Ed came in and we spent a couple of hours chatting & enjoying our meals. They all look great and seem to be doing well. Lisa has been doing some train 'conducting' and it was fun listening to some of her stories. Tough work in the winter around here for sure! Ed & De treated us this time, thanks guys! We appreciated that :)
After dinner we hit Petco, Wal-Mart, Sam's Club & the gas station before finally arriving back home around 9pm. Whew, makes for a long day! There were storm clouds all around us as we did our chores & we were treated to a pretty sunset. But, a couple of hours later the rain, thunder & lightning hit & we were in for quite a light show!! Oh my, it was actually a bit scary. Knocked out the satellite feed so no TV. Ah well, it was time for bed anyway. We want to get a reasonably early start for the last leg of our journey to South Dakota in the morning. So, once again, thanks for stopping by & we'll see you on down the road :)
