September 4, Toronto, Ontario High of 72
Drove to Rough Hill Train Station, (Go Train) and had a 30-minute ride into Toronto about 9:30.
Boarded the City Sightseeing Bus (a hop on, hop off). First stop was CN Tower, Canadian National Railroad Tower built to be a tourist attraction and it worked. Went to the observation floor which was 114 stories high. Took pictures and felt our balance was “off” and thought we could feel a little movement. The next floor down was the glass floor which was even more disturbing to our sense of balance.
Got back on the bus and stopped at the harbor area but did not take the free boat ride in the harbor. Instead, we found the Beaver Tail pastry shop which is a special treat here in Canada. Back on the bus we stopped at St. Lawrence Market in the old Town Hall building. You can buy just about everything there from all over the world. There are food vendors as well, we chose veal parmesan, and later a sweet treat of a chocolate dipped cheesecake on a stick. I may try making some with Megan since some of our family LOVE cheesecake.
Back on the bus we just saw the sights until a few blocks before Union Station. The train station was very crowded now for rush hour, we asked for help with the ever-changing train schedule screens and then headed for the correct platforms to board the correct train-some are Express and don’t stop at every stop this time of day. Made it back to our campground and decided we would move on tomorrow after talking with the nice lady in the office.
