Troy and Sue's Camino travel blog

The imposing Monasterio de San Jerónimo.

And from the inside

St Jean Pied de Port

This morning we said goodbye to our tour group and had a couple of hours to kill before our transfer to Granada Airport.

We visited the Monasterio de San Jerónimo.A 16th Century monastery. It was enormous are quite beautiful inside and out.

Then it was a day of transfers - cab to Granada Airport, flights to Madrid and Pamplona and taxi shuttle to St Jean Pied de Port. Oscar, our driver, pointed out areas on the Camino that we'll pass through in the next few days during the drive and gave us a few tips which put my mind at ease about starting the Camino tomorrow.

St Jean is a beautiful town, just inside France. The architecture in the North of Spain and here in St Jean is quite different to where we've been in the South of Spain. No Moorish influence here.

We found a Cafe for dinner - our first Menu de Pelegrin (pilgrim dinner). Before long we were chatting to the couple next to us - from Byron Bay and then the English chap on the other side joined in. A very friendly atmosphere.

We wondered about St Jean until the Pilgrim office reopened at 9.30 to get the latest info. 1 more sleep!!
