|Monday June 13th, we spent the day touring around Dawson Creek, the visitor center, and took in the movie at the Alaska Highway House at the world famous Mile 0 post. The movie is about the construction of the Alaskan Highway, which was completed in 1942 by the US Army. We also visited the Kiskatinaw River bridge, which is a curved wooden bridge, also constructed by the US Army around the same time as the Alcan highway was built. This bridge is still in good condition and passable, tho there is a weight restriction so they have built a new bridge to bypass it for heavier vehicles. The winds have finally died down a bit in this area and it was a beautiful sunny day. (it's been very windy the last couple days, glad we're not driving with the camper) We took lots of pics, and will post some asap. This is truly the beginning of the adventure...
