6th - 7th July

Headed for Humpty Doo only to find out I had the date wrong and Rod Dowset's gig was 2 nights before, the hot weather must be getting to me, but I checked and found that he was on at the Railway Sports club in Parap on the Sunday night. We continued on to Beatrice hill a free camp spot which overlooks the wetlands and is very pretty. The next day we visited Windows in the Wetlands an interpretive display of the flora and fauna in the area and then back to Beatrice Hill for the night.

8th July

Got up early and drove to Fog Dam, a lovely place for a walk although the Dam wall was closed to walking because of a large Salt Water Crocodile in residence but you could drive across to the bird hide on the other side where we saw a large number of different birds. Then we drove back in to Darwin (Parap) and caught up with Rod & Shelly where they were setting up at the Railway Sports Club, told them we would be back for the show and then drove to Stokes Hill Wharf for lunch.

After lunch we had a few hours to kill so we parked Jazzabout in the Jurors Car Park at the Darwin Courthouse, had a nap for 2 hours and then a shower and dressed to go out, Where else in Australia could you do that ? Then we went to Rods Gig, had a great night and then with no accommodation available again we drove to Berrimah and parked outside the Darwin Gaol, figured we would be pretty safe there.

9th - 10th July

Back to Beatrice Hill overnight before heading to Kakadu National Park and stayed for 2 nights in the caravan Park at Jabiru, had planned to go to Merl Camp at Jabiluka near Arnhem Land but Jazzabout was starting to play up so we decided to not go too far off the beaten track.

11th - 12th July

Left jabiru and went to Noolangie Rock, lots off rock paintings and a great walk to the lookout. Then off to Cooinda resort for 2 nights, where we had booked in for the morning breakfast cruise on the Yellow River Billabong. What a spectacular cruise, starting at 06:45 we set out before daylight and watched the sun come up as the mist rose from the billabong, and watched the wildlife waking for the day, it was just beautiful. We cruised for 2.5 hrs and then went back to the Resort for a beautiful buffet breakfast. Certainly one of the highlights of the trip so far.

13th July

Back to Beatrice Hill overnight, nursing jazzabout all the way (no power) suspect the injector pump is failing.

14th - till ??????

Managed to get an unpowered tent site at Darwin Free Spirit Resort for a few nights while Ashley arranged for a firm that we deal with who have a branch in Berrimah to check Jazzabout over and sure enough the injector pump is past it's use by date and will take a week + to get a pump sent up here and fitted.

Managed to get a Travellers Studio here at the resort for 9 nights so we are having a holiday from our holiday at the moment, not a bad place to be with three swimming pools a good restaurant and bar and free entertainment every night, so we have rented a car and will make the most of it. Thank you all for the reply's to our post, it seems that you are enjoying it.
