Today we started our sightseeing excursions in the Rapid City area. With a weather forecast of rain, we decided to go to Wall, SD to visit Wall Drug. Looking at the maps, we also decided to go to the Badlands National Park. When we arrived in Wall, we went to the National Park Service Information Center to obtain our Senior Passes. For the Badlands, this allowed us to enter the park without paying a fee. The trip through the Badlands NP was very enjoyable. It is amazing to me just what Mother Nature can do with the available elements. We saw some Mountain Goat and Prairie dogs during our drive. Following the drive through the Badlands, we returned to Wall to visit Wall Drug. Signs for Wall Drug are located all over the world, placed there most likely by military personnel. Wall Drug survived failure in the 1930's by offering Free Ice Water to travelers along the highway from Sioux Falls to Rapid City. Google 'Wall Drug' to find out more. Pictures do not do justice to the beauty Mother Nature has created in this great land, however I have attached a few for you to ponder. The weather did not do as forecast and we had warm (high 80's) and clear skies.
