We departed Singapore this morning at 9:00 a.m. enroute to Papeete, Tahiti in the French Polynesian Islands via Sydney, Australia. Our flight today from Singapore's Changi Airport, was to Sydney on Qantas Airlines which would get us there in about 7 1/2 hours...given that it would be a long flight and how much we enjoyed sitting in business class on our last flight, we checked into upgrading but quickly changed our minds when they told us how much it would cost....we weren't sure whether the upgrade was for just the one leg of the flight to Sydney or whether it was for the rest of our around the world flights, but either way, it was just a bit too expensive. We arrived in Sydney at about 7:30 p.m. local time losing three hours with the time change from Singapore and had to go thru immigration procedures since we were spending the night in Sydney.....we picked up our bags off the carousel and as we were exiting the baggage claim area, an airport security officer came over with his beagle and asked us if his dog could sniff our day packs......we had nothing to hide and obliged..... "Oliver" as we called him came up with nuthin' and we continued merrily on our way to find a cab and make our way to the Sydney International Inn Airport Hotel which it turned out was about two minutes from the airport. The Inn was nothing special, simply a place to get a night's sleep, so we wandered over to another nearby hotel (The Mercure) to get a bite to eat and then returned to our hotel and turned in......off to Papeete tomorrow!!!!!!!
