....the pool and slide at Jimbaran Hills Resort....

We had a great week in Bali, relaxing, seeing some sights and enjoying Indonesian hospitality...the resort is located high in the Jimbaran Hills, hence the name...and is quite removed from the hustle and bustle of the major resort areas of Nusa Dua and Kuta and the city of Denpasar......on Sunday we relaxed around the pool during the day before being well fed at a welcome BBQ where we enjoyed a wonderful selection of grilled meats...something we haven't had a great deal of over the last couple of months....pork chops, beef, lamb, chicken skewers and sausages......along with vegetables and rice and other yummy things......on Monday we caught the shuttle bus which took us to Nusa Dua where we checked out the beach and wandered thru a busy shopping area where we picked up groceries for some simple breakfasts and lunches (our suite had a partial kitchen)..... on Tuesday we spent the day at the pool again, working on our tans......Wednesday saw us back on the shuttle bus, this time off to Kuta where we spent our time shopping and checking out the surfers enjoying the breakwaters on the west side of the island.....and as we waited for our return shuttle at the Venus Café we couldn't believe our eyes....a gentleman prepared to drive away on his motorcycle.....wearing a winter jacket in the 35 degree heat....on Thursday afternoon we traveled by car with our driver, Wayan, to the village of Mengwi where we visited "The Royal Temple" before heading to Pura Tanah Lot, Bali's most well-known temple, set on an outcrop of rock and which gets surrounded by water when the tide comes in. We sat and enjoyed a very refreshing "cold one" in the afternoon heat and watched the amazing waves crash upon the rocks as the sun set over the temple.....we then made our way to Jimbaran Bay on the Bukit Peninsula where there were a total of 24 seafood restaurants with tables set out on the beach.....our driver dropped us at the "Sea Side Café" where we sat out under the stars and watched/listened to the surf and enjoyed a fantastic seafood dinner....rock lobster, prawns, snapper and clams(with an incredible spicy tomato sauce), all grilled over a BBQ along with some deep fried calamari with steamed rice and vegetables and corn chowder to start.......all served up by our waiter, Marty, who smiled constantly....Friday saw us back at the pool, soaking up some more of the suns rays, reflecting on our week here and looking ahead to tomorrow's journey to Singapore.....
