Who said there is nothing to see and do in Canberra! It was a rockin little city when we were there!

While Mardi Gras was in full fling in Sydney, we headed off to the exciting capital city of Canberra. There we met up with a friend from our China trip, Rebecca and enjoyed a picnic in the park while their local radio station entertained the crowds with their annual "Fire in the Sky" celebration. We had great views of the fire fighting helicopter demonstration, the amazing Roulettes and soon after the sunset, a wonderful display of fireworks! We felt so close to the action.

After a very welcoming visit with Rebecca and her family, we toured the Australian Parliament. Set up in much the same way as the British and Canadian systems, we saw both houses and got some great views from the top. Then it was off to Mount Coot-tha for some more great panoramic views and to spot the very office where Rebecca works in the Ministry of may even see it. It's the 4th brown building in the top left corner - very secretive, very high security ;-)
