Larry & Lee Ann's Journey travel blog

A quick update on yesterday's tornado watch. The National Weather Service posted this today. Thanks to Deb McLain for sharing....

'A small tornado touched down south of Hill City, South Dakota on Sunday, August 11, snapping large Ponderosa pine trees on the Mickelson Trail. The only structural damage noted was torn shingles on two houses. Based on this damage, winds were estimated around 100 mph. The visible damage indicated the tornado was about 1.4 miles long and 50 yards wide.'

Today was a lazy day although I did transfer some programs from our DVR to DVD's. I think it's going out, again!!! Grrrr....Direct TV keeps sending us refurbished units & they just don't seem to hold up. We're had three units in our 7 years and looks like we'll need a 4th shortly. I did manage to do a bit of reading while doing the above chore and enjoyed that very much. Haven't had time to do much reading lately.

We had a small shower this afternoon but for the most part it was sunny & warm. Larry replaced some vents on the roof and that always makes me nervous. And no, he didn't do it in the rain, he was already done before it hit. We're hoping to have a clear weekend as we've been looking forward to some boating & fishing. And I want to check out the nests on the island before they all grow up & leave home, lol!! Have a nice evening...
