|This morning dawned bright and clear. No rain, but beautiful clouds everywhere!!! Yippeee, you know how much I LOVE the clouds. There was a brisk breeze, 53 degrees outside. We hurried to get on the road as it is about 300 miles from Reno to Ely, a bit more than we generally like to travel in one day. And, the time changed last night so it will be dark earlier.
We fueled up at $3.09 for diesel. The price is gradually coming down, hooray. The truck is running great and we are getting good fuel mileage, so so made it home on one tank of fuel. We only stopped twice. The first time just outside of Austin for lunch. And a second time to view the Shoe Tree. I have never seen a shoe tree before, but I understand there are a few others. What a trip! I don't know who travels with spare shoes, so I assume these folks just take them off their feet to add to the tree 'collection'???
Once again we traveled Hwy 50, the loneliest road in America. Today, the scenery was very pretty. We did not encounter any rain or snow, but could tell there had been some of each not long ago. We enjoyed the snow covered peaks in the distance and at 4:53pm, a spectacular sunset near the end of our drive. We arrived at 5:30pm and since it was dark and we were worn out, we parked at Mom and Dads. We will move the rig to the KOA tomorrow. That's it for now, goodnight....
