|So, after the parade we decided to take a stroll down to Way Park to check out the vendors wares. They have many unique handmade items. I purchased some lovely smelling soaps. There were plenty of things we'd love to own but space & weight are always a consideration. Bonnie was really torn on a sandblasted 'Welcome' rock but getting it home would have been a real problem. I'm sure her bag would definitely have exceeded the 50 lb weight limit at the airline check-in counter!
We normally like to go to the Senior Center for the sloppy Joe lunch, it's a good organization to support. But this year we opted for the newly opened Black Hills Burger & Bun joint. Their burgers are amazing! I had the Hot Mama & highly recommend it. Yummo....! Afterward we headed back down the street to the annual car show. There were quite a few different entries this year as well as some repeats. Boy, some of them really bring back the memories!
The weather was absolutely gorgeous all day making it a terrific day for the parade, car show, vendors & street dance later that evening. We made a quick stop at the VFW after leaving the car show to hear our buddy Mo Perry play and visit the 'Long Island Iced Tea' gang that come every year to honor a deceased brother's memory. Larry & Dick befriended them a few years back & it is an annual tradition now. They send you hugs and a big hi Dick & Lou!! And Dick, you'll notice the 'three amigos' pic is still hanging in the VFW! Cool....
Well, I promised to post pics of the old classics this time but I'm actually going to do it next post. Too many photos for one post. I hope you enjoy checking things out with us in this wonderful small town of Custer. We are sure enjoying ourselves!
