Red Snapper

It was a long ride to San Pedro – about two and a half hours - where we got off the boat and went through Belize immigration and customs. At the customs desk I found my camera bag was missing – but it was quickly found. I was asked by the agent if I had anything to declare – “A half bottle of rum and three cigars” I replied. She smiled and said she hoped I had a good time – I said I’d have a better time with a full bottle. Good to make officials laugh.

Then about half the group that was continuing to Caye Caulker got lined up, had our luggage stowed, and onto an open boat in the dark. People had their phones set on flashlight to help with boarding. I sat toward the middle in the open area – most were under shelter. This trip was a lot shorted – 30 minutes. The spray from the wake got me quite wet – but the water was warm so it was quite fun!

We got to the Caye and caught a taxi (gold cart) to the Anchorage Resort. Got my room (it was musty smelling) then went with Adrianna into town for dinner. Roads are all limestone and pot holes everywhere – some quite deep! I had a very nice red snapper with a free mojito! Then back to the room.

Tried to go for a walk on the beach but a strong wind (howling!) and a small beach made that impossible. So I sat on the porch and read a bit of my book. Up at 7:00 tomorrow.

Tomorrow snorkeling (if the weather isn’t too windy).
