Larry & Lee Ann's Journey travel blog

View to our right on I-25S...Pretty

More 'traffic' then we've encountered lately, LOL!

Wyoming is a pretty state...

Buttes and plateaus of every shape and size...

Looks a little sad and lonely out there doesn't it?

This is Larry's 'kind' of windmill...He loves them!

We've arrived just outside Lusk at a very nice rest area...

Time for a breather!

There is a nice recreational area for the kids to run, play...

Including 'big' ones!

A little Wyoming Wildlife info for you...

And a bit of info on the Cheyenne-Deadwood Trail as well...

My honey, justa swingin'....

Driving down Main Stret in the pretty little town of Lusk...Love all...

It was a beautiful day and a pretty drive to Casper on Monday. We pulled out right at our usual time, 11am. It was a short drive from Fort Caspar to I-25S and ultimately US 18 as we traveled the 100 or so miles to Lusk in about 1 3/4 hours. We'd decided to stop near Lusk for lunch and found a lovely roadside rest stop. There was a sign explaining the historical significance of this particular rest stop. Apparently Wyoming took Lady Bird Johnson's call to highway beauty seriously in the 1960's. This was its first step, as it built a stop complete with flush toilets. The building uses very interesting solar and geothermal technologies and there were plenty of informational signs on site, both inside and outside.

There were also picnic tables, a slide, merry-go-round, etc, all set in a very pretty area. We enjoyed our picnic lunch under one of the covered picnic tables and then burned off a few calories pumping like crazy on the swings. Well, Larry pumped more than I did. I just sorta 'swung' a little! It was a great place to stop for an hour or so and broke up the drive a bit. We both like to stop and stretch these days. Our chiropractor said we should 'stand up' every 20 minutes for at least one minute. Apparently it gets the blood pressure moving among other benefits. It's a bit hard to do on travel days but we do try to do it while at home faithfully. It feels good to get up & stretch.

Well that's it for this post. Tomorrows pics cover our drive from Lusk, Wyoming to Custer, South Dakota, our favorite summer home. See you on down the road!
