This morning Onyx delayed our departure a bit longer than we'd hoped. We still arrived in Casper about 11:45am but I was uptight about not leaving by 9am and that never makes hubby happy. I was loading all the 'stuff' into the cab of the truck, you know, my purse, camera, water, cushion etc. But this morning I had a cup of hot tea in my hand and wasn't quite ready for Onyx to leap into the seat at the same time I attempted to put the cup into the drink holder. It went everywhere, and I do mean everywhere! What a mess...Ah well, it was an accident and she looked so disheartened when I chastised her she almost made me feel guilty for getting so upset. Well, almost, lol!
It was a lovely drive with very little traffic. They were doing a bit of road work as we neared Casper but nothing that affected us in any way. Because we arrived so early in the day we chose to get a camping site at Fort Caspar. It was warm enough that we didn't want to leave Onyx in the rig for most of the day without air conditioning. My Uncle Ed and Aunt De met us for lunch at one of our favorite restaurants and we had a very nice visit. Unfortunately cousin Lisa had to work and cousin Shari was under the weather so we missed seeing them this trip.
Larry & I had a bit of shopping to do so we arranged to meet again at 4pm at my Uncle's house and we played a card game called Golf until about 9pm. The last time we visited they only had one dog, a female Corgi named Georgee. She has unique eyes, much like the horse we saw a couple of days ago. One blue and one brown. They have two new fur members now as well, a female rescue Cocker named Sophie and a black female Scotty named Katie. All three such sweet girls. We're dog lovers so we enjoyed petting & getting to know them all. Sophie has apparently had a tough life prior to being rescued and was a bit skittish & shy. But she warmed up fairly quickly. Anyway, it was nice to see them again and it always pleases both Mom & Uncle Ed to get 'live' reports on how the two of them are doing. It's a shame they don't get to see each other more often. So Larry & I stopping most years on our way to Custer, SD is their way of 'seeing' each other. I take lots of pics, lol!
We arrive in Custer in tomorrow's post, but the truth is, we are already here. I'm just running a day or two behind in posting. So, we'll talk about that next time. Thanks for stopping in and have a great day!
