|Wow, I can't believe we've been here 11 days already, the time is sure flying by quickly. We really haven't done much as the weather has really had it's ups and downs. We even got a bit of rain one day, but it was light and didn't last long. The temperature went from 54 the day we arrived to a couple of high 60's and even a 70 before dropping back into the low 50's again! But I'm happy to report it is in the mid 70's today and looks like it will stay that way for a bit.
Mom has a large cinder block garage and a good sized storage shed so that is where most of our 'must save' items are stored. We are considering having one last yard sale but I have to tell you, with the major amount time it will take sorting it, displaying it attractively and pricing all of it we're wondering if it's worth the effort. I think I'd rather donate it all! Wish we itemized our taxes so we'd at least get the write-off but alas, we don't. So, we're still kicking it around.
I spent the morning trying to lighten our load inside. Oh my, what a job. Where does all this 'stuff' come from???? Do you all have a hard time releasing 'things' that are still in good shape? Even though you haven't used it in 3 years? LOL Some even still have tags on them. Now that's just plain ugly, LOL...If I had the time and energy I'd list some on Ebay and Craig's List but then you need to be around to ship the item when it sells. So that's out too. Ah well, it will all work out in the end.
Tonight we are attending the annual Elk's Club fundraiser. We've been wanting to join for sometime and when Larry contacted the gal yesterday she convinced him we should both attend tonight for the dinner etc and pick up our application at the event. Apparently it's a month or two process so we may have to finish it up when we return in the fall. Don't think we'll be here long enough this trip. Living in a VERY small town does have it's perks though. Need to mail something at the Post Office. No problem, walk right up to the window. Same for the DMV. The first time we went in there we were shocked! So used to the 'take a number' and then wait three hours routine in Vegas. LOL
And, get this. The old Nevada Club Hotel has a free lunch for all Seniors the first Tuesday of the month. Of course we took advantage of that this past Tuesday. Pot roast with all the fixin's and it was delicious. Mom & Lori go every month. Speaking of Mom, especially for family members reading this, she is doing quite well. I'm so proud of her. Her mind is still very sharp, as is her tongue, just kidding Mom!!!! Anyway, she's still sharp as a tack and physically is doing fairly well. Needs her oxygen frequently if she walks a lot but on the whole she's pretty spry for an 80 year old 'chick'!
A couple of nights ago we decided to go for a short drive during a small thunderstorm. We caught a rainbow in the making and it even tried for a double. Unfortunately it was disappearing quickly and we were still too far way for a great pic but we enjoyed seeing it in person! It was nice to get out and 'smell' the storm. We even stopped at Mickey D's for a small hot fudge sundae. A special treat as we're both trying to watch our diet and lose a few pounds. We're down 3 pounds each as of this morning. Yayyyyy. Wonder how that's going to work out when we spend a week in California at the beach and Disneyland??? We'll be taking healthy snacks along so we'll see. Anyway, we have good intentions, lol.
Well, that's it for now. Thanks for stopping by and please drop us a line now and then. We love hearing from you!!!!
