Last Friday Larry, John, Joyce, Sara & I made the 50 mile or so trip to Los Algodones, Mexico for my scheduled dental appointment. We arrived at the dentist office right on time. The girls decided to go ahead and start shopping and the guys went in search of a shady, cool place to sit while they all waited for me. My appointment went well and I now have a bright, shiny smile!
It didn't take me long to find all of them resting beneath brightly colored umbrellas with a cool adult libation in hand!Everyone was anxious for my arrival as we were all ready for lunch. Larry and I split a combo plate and it was quite tasty. The margarita was good as well and after lunch we all decided to dance a few calories off to the live band. They were pretty darn good and, after playing a bit, allowed a Canadian 'tourist' to sing along with them. I believe he sings a bit professionally, sure sounded like it.
After resting up from our dancing we headed off down the main street to find a few trinkets, gifts and drugs. I got a pretty bracelet and necklace, Larry bought a t-shirt and we picked up a few meds for Mom. I find it quite amazing that Mexico can sell the same prescription drugs for so much less than the USA can. And glasses, and dental work and liquor and the list goes on. A couple of years ago I had a cleaning, a new crown and two new porcelain fillings (to replace some VERY old ones) done here in Algodones for $405. And they did a great job. We don't carry dental insurance so this works out well for us.
Well, that's it for this post. I'm sorry to be so long in between them. But to tell you the truth, I just haven't felt like doing one. I think we all hit a burnout at times. But, I'm planning to catch up over the next few days so please check back soon. And thanks for taking part of your precious time to check in on us. We really do appreciate it...
