Larry & Lee Ann's Journey travel blog

We left to beautiful weather & sky...

I like this shot!

Thought these were cool rock formations...

This one appeared out of nowhere...

Cattle grazing in a pretty setting...

And buttes like this appeared out of thin air!

I thought this was beautiful...

Wow, wide open spaces!

Boxcars full of coal...

Here comes the rain, 63 degrees outside, feels wonderful!

Today was a long travel day. We got off to a really slow start because we weren't sure if we were actually going to move today or not. I came down with strep throat a couple of days ago & compounded it with a terrible cold. I woke up this morning still feeling not quite up to par, even though I have been taking antibiotics for the past 3 days. I took some DayQuil (you know the daytime version of NyQuil) and after a bit, felt good enough to be of some help to hubby as we packed up. My throat is still raw but no fever any longer & my headache finally broke. Ok, enough whining. I'm so fortunate to be blessed with good health most of the time....

We had a lovely drive. The sky started out so blue with white puffy clouds. We were on this same road two years ago and couldn't believe the difference today. It was so green! And it smelled so good. At least that's what Larry tells me. My smeller has been broken for awhile even without this cold. The doctor says the result of using Zicam. Who knew? Occasionally something will get through, but not much. Not even the skunks! Guess that's a real plus! LOL

It started drizzling the last couple of hours & gave our rig a good rinsing. The scenery was just beautiful. Talk about wide open spaces! Wow, lots of cattle, sheep & especially Pronghorn. There are babies of all 3 species everywhere! So adorable. It felt so good to cross the Wyoming border into South Dakota, like coming home again. We are so happy to be here again this year. It's beautiful.

Paul & Marcie, owners of Custer Mountain Campground, welcomed us back again & of course, saved us our favorite spot in the campground. And as we were setting up, friends Terry & Dawn arrived home & stopped by for a quick hello. So good to see everyone again. It was getting late as we were getting set up, so no pictures of home today. I'll post some soon. We can't wait to go see "our lake" tomorrow, and of course we will take the drive through Custer State Park very soon. As well as visit Crazy Horse, Mt Rushmore and the Needles Highway.

And catch up with friends Dick & Lou, Mike & Pat & my cousins Wayne & Judy who are camp hosting over in Hot Springs, about 40 miles away. And, the 4th of July is just a couple of days away so we'll have to find out what local activities are planned. So much fun. Guess you can tell, we are excited to be here...
