Larry & Lee Ann's Journey travel blog

Happy Birthday Mom!

Larry & nephew Mike, just home from Afghanistan...Thanks for your service Michael!

Hope you are all enjoying your Valentine's Day. Larry and I enjoyed the soup & salad with those amazing bread sticks at Olive Garden this afternoon. Followed by a quick stop at Costco. Yep, hard to believe. It's usually never very quick. And this time we didn't break the bank. Now that's a good thing! My hubby gave me a beautiful necklace/ring set for Valentine's Day. I've never owned an opal set & this one is especially pretty. Lots of fire in it and love the pink sapphires around it too. Sapphire also happens to be my birthstone.

This past Friday we went to celebrate Mom's 80th birthday with her. It's been two years since all four of her daughters were together with her at the same time. There were nieces & nephews there too so she had a really nice day visiting with family. Elaine & Bobbi prepared a nice Mexican meal followed by pie for dessert. Mom prefers pie over cake so we brought two of her favorites from Marie Callender's with us, double lemon and sour cream blueberry. There was also a pecan pie and brownies. Geez, it was like being in a restaurant with all those choices, lol.

Mom has also had two surgeries on her eyes in the past couple of weeks. they did one a week ago Tuesday and the second one this past Tuesday. They are saying she won't have to wear the coke bottle thick glasses she's worn her entire life anymore. Now that would be amazing. She handled the surgery's well, although her nose was a bit bruised.

Well, that's it for now. I hope you are all enjoying your day and thanks for taking a few minutes to check in. We appreciate all of you!
