The 'Marine' Flagman

For all my friends, I'm sorry that I have not posted my blog earlier. Guess I was just a little lazy. The 21st was a travel day from Sidney, NE to Rapid City, SD. When we got ready to depart Cabela's, we had an early morning visitor that stayed around long enough for us to get a few pictures. Our travel took us North on US 385, off Interstates, mostly on two lane highways. The trip was about 235 miles, about 5 hours. The scenery was mostly rolling hills, with visibility approximatley 25 miles or better. The weather was a rather balmy 67 degrees when we woke, with about an 8-12 knot wind. The weather stayed nice the whole way, but we had a late rain shower that evening. We passed thru several small towns, in one of which we saw this sign on the town Police station. Attached also is some pictures of the scenery. We saw several trains that appear to be carrying coal. We also encountered some construction along the way. At this one site, the flagman was wearing an orange hat. As we were waiting to proceed, he approached the coach and informed us that he had noticed my Retired Navy tag on the front of the coach and that he had been a Marine. We arrived at Lazy J's RV Park around 1600. It has a great view of the surrounding area.
