Greg's 2007 Odyssey travel blog

I headed out around 9:30 AM. The sky was overcast (marine layer) but traffic was light and highway 101 was smooth. The wind was mild and not a factor.

As soon as I got to Santa Barbara, the traffic picked up dramatically. In fact, the on ramp metering lights were operating. The hwy switched from macadam to concrete. The ride went from smooth to very rough. It remained that way all the way in. I can understand why. The volume of traffic is huge.

I have the coach set curbside, but Socks and I slept in Russ & Marcia's house over night. Socks was spooked by the rough ride and by Otis (their yellow lab who's all bark and no bite), so he was pretty restless. I ended up getting up with him around 2:30 AM to let him out to do his business. After that I had to put him in the bathroom for the balance of the night.

Russ and I watched "Blood Diamond" before we went to bed. It was very good. It also was sadly very bloody and brutal.
