Reilly on the Road travel blog

An early start let to a 2-hour boondoggle when I missed R46 to Ceres and instead headed back for the coast. I realized my mistake and turned back through the drizzle and got my bearings. The only saving grace was the spectacular wine country - a beautiful valley flanked by small rocky mountains, dotted with vineyards.

I made it to Paddagang in Tulbagh - my original destination for breakfast - around 12:00. I had Chicken with Waterbloomfljeteinschkloppen (I can't remember the Afrikaans word, but it was something that meant "water blossom" and had a LOT of consonants). Paddagang means "Frog Passage" -It was like dining in an Irish Cottage - I expected to see Mr. Toad whip around the corner at any time!
