Rambling Rodericks travel blog

Continuing our visit in the northeast corner of Oregon, Dan and I wanted to cruise by some of the area which Dad and Carol used to visit with their friends, Bruce and Zona Strathern. The Stratherns owned several ranches, both in Simi Valley (southern California) and in this area too. We drove by the big ranch just outside of Lostine, a tiny town. The ranch has been sold to a consortium of business people from New York. They have installed the “dude” gate. I haven't personally known the Stratherns, but what I've known of them made it evident to me that the gate would not have been something they would have installed.

The barn, horses and several ranch houses are probably similar to when Dad and Carol were guests there. It's an idyllic place of which they have very fond memories.
