This morning was cloudy with temperatures in the high 50’s. Once I got ready to go I drove the RV over to the car wash at 08:00AM and washed off most of yesterday’s grime.

I finished at the car wash at 08:20AM, hooked up the car, and departed Kluane RV Park at 08:25AM.

The Haines Highway from Haines Junction, Yukon to Haines, Alaska was much better than yesterday’s drive. Only one major construction site for 8 miles that I drove through at 15MPH. About half way through I had to wait for a pilot car to go the rest of the way. There were high winds and strong gusts the whole drive today. All told it is a very scenic drive.

Near the end of the construction is Million Dollar Falls Campground. There is supposed to be falls, rapids, and a grizzly feeding area. I did not see any of this; in fact I did not see any wildlife on today’s drive.

I crossed from the Yukon into British Columbia at 10:15AM, 62.5 miles from the Haines Junction campground.

I arrived at the US Customs Border crossing at British Columbia/Alaska at 11:10AM. I was the third vehicle in line. After a couple of the customary questions I was waved through.

I arrived at Haines Hitch-up RV Park at 12:20PM. 50amp E/W/S. I am able to finally able to get DirecTV to locate the satellite; however, I can only get standard channels as it will not lock on to the high definition satellite. My Internet also works but very slow. Not sure if that is because of the heavy clouds and rain or what.

I was able to contact the lady who will walk my dog on Saturday. I went to the RV Park office and purchased a ticket for the trip to Juneau on Saturday with Alaska Fjordlines aboard Alaska Fjordland, a 65-foot, fast-hulled catamaran.

I drove out to the port where I will catch the ferry to Skagway on Monday. Then I drove around Haines before coming back to the RV. Saw the cruise ship Star Princess coming out of the Taiya Inlet into the Chilkoot Inlet and heading towards the Lynn Canal. Cool and very cloudy with mist/rain all afternoon.

147.2 RV miles today – 3 hours and 50 minutes driving time.

22.1 SUV miles today.
