The most photographed building in Napier

The National Tobacco Company building

It was a long drive to Napier on the east coast but the town was well worth it. The reason it's visited by tourists at all is that in 1931 an earthquake levelled the town and when the people rebuilt it they embraced Art Deco in a big way. The town centre is almost completely Art Deco and it's beautiful. Everything is so detailed and lots of different pastel colours are used to bring out the designs. It's apparently one of the best examples of this in the world.

Walking around the town was a bit like going back in time or to Disneyland but it was very interesting and beautiful.
