Larry & Lee Ann's Journey travel blog

When we left Sevierville Tn, heading to Nashville, this was our weather,...

I was just a bit nervous!

As we climbed higher though, it really was quite beautiful!

Farming is big throughout this whole area...

We passed the famous Danny Thomas Blvd in Memphis...

And St. Judes Hospital, where they do such wonderful work...

Crossed the mighty Mississippi, into Arkansas...

Lots of crops being grown, it's amazing the amount of food required...

This beautiful First Pentacostal Church sits right on I-40...

And this is what I-40 looks like in this area...

A quick shot of the Ozark's....

Arriving in Ft. Smith, Ar....

It's getting dark as we look for our Wal-Mart, glad we are...

Okay, we woke up this morning to freezing temperatures & so we did not go to Elvis's grave site after all. In fact, we just weren't moving very quickly. It was after 10 before we started hooking up. We did drive by Graceland on our way out of town, but a couple of buses were right in front of the house & ruined any chance for a photo opp. Sorry, maybe next time.

We crossed the Mississippi River into Arkansas fairly quickly & drove clear across the state today. It was late when we arrived in Ft. Lewis, so instead of going to an RV park, we plugged the local Wal-Mart into 'Suzi", our GPS, & headed there. We've stayed in 3 Wal-Marts the last 5 days, which is very unusual for us. I don't think we've stayed in but 7 or 8 in the last 17 months. We emptied our tanks & filled with fresh water this morning in case we decided to do just this, so we are good to go. With our solar panels & inverter system we have everything we need. An occasional boost by the generator keeps us good when I do the blow-dryer, curling iron thing. Or run the toaster, which pulls a lot of juice.

At our current rate, we should arrive in Phoenix by Wednesday night, Thursday afternoon, in time to celebrate Thanksgiving with family. We plan to spend the weekend & then take our 5'er into their shop for a little maintenance Monday morning. As I have mentioned before, if you are ever in the Phoenix area & need any RV service, please go see Stan & Phyllis at Southwest RV. Phone # (623-486-3452) I guarantee you dependable, reasonable, trustworthy service! You'll be glad you did. Tell them Larry & Lee Ann sent you ok...

We'll be in Oklahoma early tomorrow. Not sure how far we'll drive, my back is starting to bother me, not to mention the rear! But we have a lot of miles between us & Vegas & I want to get Larry home ASAP. Onyx is doing great by the way. She has become a real pro at this traveling thing & never gives us a moments grief. Except for when she sees cows of course! Hard on the eardrums then, LOL...see you on down the road.
