Greg's 2007 Odyssey travel blog

We were off around 9 AM and headed down I90. The drive was uneventful. I had a head wind and some incredibly long and steep hills to climb. The temperature climbed to 92 F.

The engine has been running a little hotter than normal since returning from AK. I suspect that either the air filter is clogged with AK road dust and/or my cooling system thermostat may be not working properly. So on the long grades, the temp gauge showed me almost at red line.

We stopped for fuel and lunch in Gillette, WY. It was nice to see the price of diesel at $2.89/gallon vs. what I had been paying. The price down is definitely moving in the right direction.

We arrived at Rapid City, SD around 4 PM and took US 16 south to Hill City and to our RV park south of there. It was a ride of 25 miles, most of that was up hill with some steep grades. The temp gauge was at red line most of the way. I will have to deal with this situation ASAP.

We got checked in, sited and hooked up. We set up the lawn chairs outside. We don't get satellite TV or cell phone access here but do have good wireless access. However, I still cannot get to the Internet. So, I'll take the laptop with me into town and access the Internet through Verizon there.

I headed for bed early, as I was pretty tired from the day's drive. Tomorrow, we take a Gray Line tour of the area.
