[Happy Birthday David!]
We drove to Petoskey, MI and were impressed by the waterfront development, especially the very large public marina. John ventured out on the harbor breakwall while I looked for petoskey stones.* I picked up a few “maybes,” but will have to polish them to be sure. The stones are a reminder of Michigan's geologic history; still, it is difficult to imagine the state of Michigan completely under water — and a lot further south—until the continental drift (plate tectonics) moved Michigan to it's present location.
*A rock composed of fossil coral. Looks like ordinary limestone until wet/and or polished, then the fossilized coral appears.
