Great Alaska Adventure travel blog

There was light rain off and during the night. We awoke to an inside temperature of 59 deg. The furnace quickly brought the temperature up to about 63 deg and we had coffee brewing (instant for this morning since there is no one else up and about and we did not want to run the generator.

We hiked for about 2 maybe 3 miles around the lake. Beautiful view of the lake with low clouds hanging over the tops of the mountains. Anne is somewhat concerned with animal tracks along the trail.

We had a nice drive north to Denali. We stopped for lunch at Denali View North (part of Denali State Park). Since we had low clouds and fog, there was no view of Denali.

We checked in at Denali and found our campsite. We tried one site, but could not get the rig level. After hot showers at the Denali Mercantile, we had toddy time at the campsite and then prepared dinner. The weather has been wonderful this afternoon - the skies have cleared and we have clear blue skies and about 60 deg. We will be going to a NPS ranger discussion after dinner. Then in the morning an early wake up for the shuttle bus to Eilson Visitor’s center.
