We left for Spring Creek Campground in Geneva, Alabama on Friday afternoon. We arrived 5 1/2 hours later. The drive was actually very nice. We drove a good part of the trip us US 19 which goes through Crystal River. It was quite interesting. At one time US 19 was the primary route along the Gulf coast. There were many places along the way that you could see that at one time they were thriving businesses...especially gas stations, motels, and restaurants. They now sit along the route abandoned and run-down buildings.

We arrived at the campground and were amazed at the rural location. The place was certainly out of the way but it was really beautiful. The ride through the dirt road to the place wasn't bad in the RV but was a little difficult on the scooters when we rode into town that night for dinner at the 'Old Mexico' restaurant and the next day to check out the town. We found the world's smallest Wal-Mart in Geneva, Alabama...it makes the one in Homosassa look like a super Wal-Mart.

I took some pictures in sepia tone of old places along the way...I thought it was appropriate to show the timeliness of the objects.

We crossed over the Suwanee River. It was a beautiful river and I can see why Stephen Foster wrote a song about it.

All in all the trip was a nice refreshing get away.
