Back at the Visitor Center

Late this afternoon we walked the loop to the Emerald Pools and then out via Kayenta Trail. It was a 2 1/2 mile hike with a fair amount of climbing through sand and over sand covered rocks. It was a good workout. The ponds didn't have much water in them, but you could certainly imagine when it rains here that it would be an impressive place. The late afternoon sun reflecting on the surrounding mountains and Virgin river made for a beautiful trip through the canyon.

This was our last visit to the park. Tomorrow we are taking the Kolob Terrace Rd. in search of fall colors.
