Larry & Lee Ann's Journey travel blog

I don't know if you've ever heard of or if I've ever mentioned Groupon to you before, but if you haven't checked it out yet, you should. Groupon features deals on the best stuff to do, see, eat, and buy in more than 500 of our larger cities. Their deals typically weigh in at discounts of 50-90% and include things like salsa lessons, hot air balloon rides, hand-tossed pizzas, restaurant savings and lots of other services!

Groupon negotiates huge discounts with popular businesses. They then send the deals to thousands of subscribers in their free daily email, which in turn, theoretically, send the businesses a ton of new customers. We have used this service numerous times, mostly for dining opportunities, but we also purchased show tickets as well. There is no cost to sign up. There is a 24 hour wait time to use your deal but that's not a problem. We usually aren't ready to use it for a few days anyway. After purchasing our deal we simply print it out and produce it when we arrive at our destination. Simple!

Here's a link so you can see what the site looks like:

Groupon is now offering a 'new' option, Groupon Now! In this case, you have to use your purchase on that specific day & sometimes during specific hours. We occasionally find a restaurant or an ice cream or yogurt offer to use later that day, especially when in Vegas. For instance, you can purchase $10 worth of ice cream at Ben & Jerry's for $5. But you must use it between 11am & 7pm today. Here's a link so you can see what it looks like:

Groupon Now

There is now a user friendly App available where daily deals are signed, sealed and delivered to your Android phones each morning. We haven't upgraded our phones yet so I can't give a personal testimonial on it, but the reviews look good.

And finally, you can earn $10 in Groupon Bucks for every friend you refer to Groupon. It's their way of saying "thanks" for spreading the good word and increasing their collective buying power! Groupon Bucks can be used toward any Groupon purchase, and unlike ice cream, they never expire! I only mention this as I received an email from them reminding me of this feature of the program. Would we like for you to use our link when you sign up? Of course....but my reason for this post today was mainly to let you know that this might be one of the ways to save a few bucks on something you planned to do anyway. As I mentioned earlier, we have used this service several times, it works beautifully, is simple to use and saves us $$$. We like that! Have a great day everyone....
