We woke up in our Walmart parking lot to rain. It rained all day on our travels to NY State and rained as we stopped at West Point to tour the US Military Academy. Two of my high school buddies went to West Point and it certainly is a beautiful place. We started at the Visitor's Center then took a one hour bus tour of the campus that was narrated. Because of the rain we only stopped at the Chapel but did get to see and hear about the cadets and campus. So many big name Generals came through here; Eisenhower, MacArthur, Patten, etc. We finished up in the Military Museum on the grounds then back on the road for a rainy ride to our camp site for the night. We have been generally pleased with our Passport America membership offering 50% off the normal price of camping. This dump charges $45 a night to full paying customers AND adds a $3 per night electric charge. When the owner told me they charge $3 for electric I asked why? His comments were you know for air conditioners and heaters. I told him there would be no air conditioning at 59 degrees when we pulled in and that I did not have an electric furnace and that our heater worked on propane which is on board. He said no matter he has to charge it. We have stayed in better Walmarts for free. This place is a dump. Don't ever stop in at Hilltop Farm Campsites in Mountaindale NY just off Rt. 17 at Rock Hill. So there! Please enjoy the pics.
